We spent 5 nights here at the end of March and start of April 2025. We were really fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the wonderful location: scaling Slight Side and Scafell on one day, riding to Coniston via the bridleway on another and 'bagging' most of the Coniston fells on another day via Wrynose Pass. We ate in on a couple of nights and also went to the Wainwright's for some pub grub, as well as Stoves for their evening menu. Simon and Belinda's place is very well situated in Great Langdale for all kinds of walks and rides, food and decent pints. The house itself is a lovely place to return to in the evening with easy parking outside for our van and once inside, everything is spotless, well equipped and cosy. We really appreciated all the helpful information on bike routes and walking routes and spent the late evenings by the fire pouring over the Wainwright books planning the next day's adventures. 100% recommended.

This property is fantastic, home from home, everything you need and more. Lovely kitchen dining area, and a great outside space with a large hot tub! Hayley’s instructions were very clear with regards to check in and she is very responsive! Great host! Would definitely book again ☺️

Beautiful cottage. Was perfect for us and the dogs. Fully enclosed fenced garden with a gate down to a quiet riverside walk. The hottub was huge and warm ready for our arrival. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen. We only stayed for 1 night so cannot comment on the local area as we did not do much exploring but we noticed a spar walking distance just down the road and a few cafes.

Beautiful home, very spacious and plenty of amenities. felt right at home! perfect for toddlers too. Ian was great, very helpful and easily contactable.

We had a really nice stay. The cottage was lovely and well kept with great shower facilities and little touches including a welcome pack of local produce. Sharon came to clean the hot tub each morning with the filter being changed between guests, bbq area (with large disposable BBQ to use, birds singing in a sheltered garden. Bathroom and hot tub towels provided, washing machine and tumble dryer easy to use. The beds were comfy and blackout blinds in all rooms. Beautiful surroundings; able to walk 30 minutes to an ice cream farm with play area or drive 5 minutes to Lowther castle

We had an absolutely lovely time staying at High Swinside. Diana was an amazing host and went out of her way to make us all feel comfortable. I would highly recommend any of her cottages.

Staying at The Distillery was an absolute dream. Communication with Margaret was outstanding and we felt immediately welcomed. The welcome pack and touches were really appreciated. Location was fantastic and we could travel into the Lakes with ease, within Dumfries and Galloway, and even got the train to Edinburgh for a day out with ease. Evenings were spent relaxing in the hot tub under the stars. You won't be disappointed if you book here!

Great cottage, beautifully decorated in a really sweet village

Lovely little house. Received advice on the way in that the house was ready and we could check in early without asking if we could. Just a 30 min drive to Scafell for the corridor and popular routes up. Great pizza place nearby and curry delivery spot on.

lovely surroundings with sheep in field at back. found a delightful loop walk following small Brook into woods. Really appreciate the wood burner in lounge that made the whole place very cosy. would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was as described, the hosts Mark and Lyn were very friendly, sent accurate check in details and location details. They left us milk coffee tea etc which was a lovely gesture. Peaceful place and clean :-) would definitely return!

Had a lovely stay at hilltop cottage. The cottage was beautifully decorated and we felt right at home. The bathtub was amazing, and the little touches like marshmallows for hot chocolate by the fire was a great touch.

Lovely cottage in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable, Diane has thought of everything and the little extras like the dog blankets/bowls were very much appreciated. The wood burner made us extra cosy when we had a rainy evening. Great to have parking and somewhere near to exercise our dog. An ideal location , we had days out to Kielder Forest & Seahouses as well as exploring the Roman fort sites. Would definitely recommend this cottage and hopefully we will be back. Thank you.

Excellent place to stay. Dog friendly and the property was very user friendly. We were 2 friends on a dog walking holiday with working dogs. We were blessed with wonderful weather, however should it have been a wet holiday the facilities were excellent. The property has an internal garage that comfortably fit an Octavia estate, laundry facilities and boot and wet weather storage - ample space, also space to leave dogs/crates if needed. The living areas on first floor, were spacious, clean and well appointed, the bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor were extremely comfortable, spacious and airy. All excellent nights sleep!!! The property has a small, patio area, however there is a lovely park within a minute or 2 walk. The general area is very quiet, however a convenience store very close and the town centre within minutes walk. A superbly placed property. Parking outside - a SWB Ford transit fit comfortably in the allocated parking space. Stuart was informative and helpful

We had a lovely few days stay at Ruth and Chris’ place. They had thought of everything you might want or need, and the place was impeccably clean - would strongly recommend. Beautiful location.

We had an exceptional stay at Manesty ! The location in was absolutely stunning, surrounded by beautiful scenery that made the visit truly special. The area was calm and peaceful, providing the perfect retreat from daily life. The host's instructions were clear, making the check-in process seamless. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Lake District in a serene and relaxing

Really relaxing stay, lovely views from the cottage and hosts very welcoming but still felt private.

Erika is an outstanding host. the cottage wa immaculate, it felt clean, fresh, with enough space for 3 couples or a family of 5-6. it felt very cosy, practical. we had a fully equipped kitchen for our meals, towels and hand soaps for the bathroom (do bring shower gel as I forgot to). I loved to natural light on the top floor. the cottage was comfortable and of very good standards. Erika was available if we had questions and provided some recommendations on arrival. I wanted somewhere nice while being a driving distance of swimming and hiking spots so it's been ok.

Another lovely stay at The Drive. Ross and Gillian again great hosts, welcoming and responsive - particularly in returning left items! We will be back I’m sure - thank you :)

An excellent stay! The cottage was great, well equipped and communication was excellent throughout. Loved having the swimming pool and other activities on site for the kids.

The fact that I’m writing this review is a testament to how lovely Joan is and how much I want to support her business. It is a tragedy that our livelihoods now rely on other people’s personal opinions on the internet. However, Joan was lovely and I wish her all the best possible luck. We had a great night.

This is the second time that we have stayed here and it reminded us of how much we enjoyed it the first time. In an excellent location with off- street parking for one car, which is an absolute bonus, the cottage is small but is perfect for two people; the kitchen is well equipped with all mod cons and the shower is amazing after a long day walking. The view from the bedroom is fabulous - and much enjoyed from the very large, very comfortable bed! Immaculately clean when we arrived Nadina was very kind to contact us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok - which it was. We'd definitely, definitely stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Keeper’s Cottage. Exactly what we needed for a post Christmas de-stress. The kids loved exploring the garden and Amy is a super helpful host, going above and beyond to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.
