Welcome to Aquila Cottage which is located directly on the Hadrians Wall Path, Pennine Way and Hadrians Cycleway Route 72. The cottage is in an unparallelled location just 150 yards from "the best bit" of Hadrians Wall at Walltown Crags and directly opposite the Roman Army Museum. There is parking for 1 vehicle as well as a bus stop right (services include AD122) outside. We are perfectly located for walking, visiting the historical sites along Hadrians Wall, Lake District & Scottish Borders.

The Rookery

After much research, I think this cottage was likely built somewhere in the 1500's. It has quirky uneven walls, VERY LOW BEAMS (TAKE CARE) upstairs made from sailing ships that travelled the world. There's no kitchen, but is a dining room with mini fridge, microwave kettle, crockery, cutlery and tea making things and a large container for you to leave your dishes out for me. *DOGS* Please keep dogs off the bed and furniture as the dog hairs just spread over everything in the washing machine.

The Coach House at Rivendell is an idyllic stone cottage in a courtyard beside the Magical Barn which is also available on Airbnb. Set in a lush green valley with hills to wander around and pet lambs to feed, quaint little streams, the beautiful enclosed valley with its miniature waterfall and dark skies is delightful. All just minutes from Hadrian's Wall. Explore wonderful Northumberland, the Lake District to the West is an easy drive as is the Pennines to the South and Scotland to the North.

We have excellent walking and cycling from site. The Pennine way is a field away, two disused railway lines, Lambley viaduct and riverside walks. This former farmer's cottage situated in Northumberland National Park has recently been totally refurbished. We also have a smaller cottage next door, which is listed separately on Airbnb, if you have a large party of guests wishing to get away from it all! About 1.5 miles from Hadrians Wall and around 4 miles from the local town of Haltwhistle which is merited with being the Centre of Britain. We are a fully working farm, around a 1000 acres, and have cows and sheep.
