Qué harás

I am sorry but due to Covid-19 I will unfortunately not be taking bookings until June, and then I will be following any future advice from the UK government

Archaeoastronomy expert Carolyn leads a guided walking tour, through the wonderful rich ancient landscape of Penwith, Cornwall. We will visit a number of ancient sites which includes stone circles, barrows, menhirs to name a few. Carolyn will take the time to describe how the ancient communities lived in this part of Cornwall and talk about how the monuments left by these people fit into this history. She will also talk about how these people related some of these monuments to the night sky.

Lasting for 2.5 hours there is a real opportunity for people to immerse themselves into this fantastic natural landscape while escaping the crowds. The walk takes a circular route, which is about two miles in length and follows ancient trails through the landscape. There are some gentle slopes involved and the path can be uneven. It also can get muddy especially in the winter months. I also run Ancient Cornwall a Bronze Age a walk in another area of West Cornwall which is slightly longer 3 miles. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/experiences/861929 Thanks for looking :)

We enjoyed this Archaeoastronomy & Heritage Walk a lot. Carolyn showed us very interesting places and monuments from bronze age. Her storytelling was amazing and we couldn't wish for a better guide. We are so glade we had this experience with her.

The session was just right. Carolyn is a lovely host and guide and made us all feel welcome and shared her knowledge and expertise about the history and astronomy of the sites we visited. She managed to speak to the adults and the children seamlessly.

I would recommend this for anyone interested (and those who are about to be) in ancient civilizations, archaeology and/or astronomy. Truly wove all three disciplines into one enjoyable package. Highly recommend!!!

Carolyn’s walking tour was absolutely wonderful. Both my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. We met some other interesting visitors and learned a fair amount about the area and it’s history. Carolyn really knows her stuff and is obviously passionate about what she does. She was a joy to talk with and was very friendly. We plan on signing up for her longer walk next time we’re in the area!

Exceptional experience. Carolyn’s breadth of knowledge about both her topic and this area of Cornwall is remarkable. Her presentation is accessible, engaging, and not dumbed-down. A rare combination.

Amazing window/evidence into ancient civilizations just a few steps off the highway and into the gorse and heather. Carolyn is friendly, personable, and oh,so knowledgeable and makes it accessible.

Más consejos

This is an off road walk apart from 20metres at the start. The tracks can be uneven and slippy, sturdy shoes are requested. The walk is about 2 miles in length but I can be flexible for all abilities.
