百 HAKU <100-year-old Quaint Japanese Style Villa>

HAKU is a Japanese Style Villa. You can enjoy your private time as in your home. “HAKU“ is one of the readings of the character “百” which means “hundred”. Medieval Haiku poet, Basho Matsuo likened eternal passage of time to "百代の過客", a permanent traveller. In his time, a hundred years was expressed as eternal. HAKU was originally built as a farmer’s shed about a hundred years ago. It was recently relocated and renovated for another hundred years. HAKU will welcome you as traveling companions.

当コテージは清流、円原川のほとりにあります。 岐阜といえば白川郷や飛騨高山が有名ですが、円原も山奥で不便な場所ではありますが素敵です。 山と川の景観が美しく、猿や鹿が出没するような自然豊かな場所です。 円原川は日本一美しい伏流水、光芒の名所として注目されており、宿は伏流水の湧き水ポイントから８００ｍ程の場所に位置していますので水の透明度は抜群です。 光芒も宿から見ることが出来ます。 夏の朝、気象条件により木々の間から太陽の光が降り注ぐ幻想的な景色を見られます。 円原川の水は冷たいですが、夏に子供たちは元気に川遊びしています。 河原は気温が随分下がるので、猛暑を逃れ涼む人も。 少し下流にいくと川遊びスポットがいくつかあり、どこも水が透き通っていて美しく泳ぐのが気持ち良いです。 川の水は少し深いところではエメラルドグリーンに輝き、岩と苔の景観も素晴らしく、心が浄化されるような癒しスポットです。 宿の2階に川に面したデッキがあるので、川を眺めながらBBQしたり、川のせせらぎを聴きながらハンモックに揺られたり、テントサウナでリフレッシュしたり日常を忘れてのんびりできます。

A private sauna villa in the satoyama, with a clear river only ten seconds from the sauna. Designed by a local designer-photographer couple, the villa blends warm wood and natural light for a calm stay. The living-dining area and loft sleep up to four guests. Enjoy BBQ or a fire in the garden, or relax on the terrace with the sound of the river. In autumn and winter, a cozy kotatsu is placed on the terrace. A retreat for adults, made for slowing down and enjoying simple nature.

Kusa no Niwa | 100-Year Machiya Lodge in Takayama

Kusa no Niwa is a traditional Japanese-style house with a courtyard and corridors that was built more than 130 years ago. The entire house with a size of 100 square meters will be lent privately to a single group with a maximum capacity of 6 persons. You will find a fusuma, a sliding door with a paper panel, painted by a famous Japanese Painter, which can be also found in the Taue’s House, an Important Cultural Property, located in Nyukawa Town.
