It was a beautiful experience staying at Sunset Cottage. We loved the ambience with the children from the hostel whose upkeep is largely provided by the revenue from the tourist cottages. The staff comprising Vinod, Manish, Poonam and others were an energetic lot, always ready to serve with a smile.The food was simple, tasty and prepared with love..The only inconveience was the shortage of storage where things can be kept. And an addition of a mirror in the room will be highly appreciated. Otherwise the surrounding was very peaceful under the canopy of the massive deodar trees. Visitors should be a bit careful about monkeys.

Great things Sanyukta and her staff was extremely helpful and proactive. She helped us with all sorts of local recommendations and requirements. If you are looking at working from here, you can face certain challenge. Though the host was gracious enough to help us with a dongle in addition to the WiFi - the speed was an issue. Not suitable for someone seeking extensive connectivity. It’s manageable. This location is 2.5kms from Kempty town - you need a vehicle every time if you are not very fond of walking. It’s amazing for people looking for a peaceful location away from the main city. Cabs are a bit expensive here. Overall, amazing and satisfactory stay. Really enjoyed our 5 days. Review for Checkmate Resort, Mussoorie (Stay: 25–26 April 2025) Our stay at Checkmate Resort was delightful! I visited with my friends, and we all enjoyed the location, food, and the warm hospitality of the staff. Nestled amidst nature, the resort offers a peaceful escape with beautiful views and a relaxing vibe. The staff was cooperative and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The food served was fresh, tasty, and had that perfect homely touch — a highlight for us! A small suggestion for the host, Vinayak: while the current Airbnb listing features photos of the rooms with a mountain view, it would be great to also include pictures of the rooms facing the pine forest. This will help the guests choose the rooms based on the views. Overall, a great experience, and we’d definitely recommend Checkmate Resort to anyone looking for a scenic and peaceful getaway

The experience was exceptional overall. The place itself was beautiful, and the host was highly responsive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. A special shoutout to Sameer, the cook, who went above and beyond with his incredible hospitality, along with his friend who assisted him. Their warmth and attention truly made the stay memorable. The only slight challenge was the distance to Mall Road, which was about 10 km away. While the distance itself wasn’t too long, the winding mountain roads meant it took around 40-45 minutes to get there, which proved a bit challenging at times. But aside from that, it was an unforgettable experience.

I highly recommend Winter Terrace to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in Mussoorie.
