This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. [Yukimura], located in Osaka’s Joto Ward, was built in 1909 (Meiji 42) and is a rare WWII-surviving home. Inspired by the Sengoku era, its bold red design honors General Yukimura’s crimson armor and katana. A renowned ink artist depicted the legendary battle between Tokugawa Ieyasu and Sanada Yukimura, blending history and artistry. Paired with its sister property, [Shukuhonjin Gamo], these twin guesthouses offer contrasting styles, fully independent yet adjacent, for small or large groups.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

We collaborated with award winning architects at Ikken to renovate this space, which now accommodates the comforts of modern life, while retaining many of the original structure and elements from its past.

We offer four bicycles free of charge for you to explore the charming backstreets that buses cannot reach. Additionally, for long stay guests , we provide a complimentary shuttle service to or from Kyoto Station upon request.

A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away. This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!
