Airbnb Referral Program Terms & Conditions
The Airbnb Referral Program allows registered Airbnb users (an “Airbnb User”) to earn Travel Credits toward future travel by referring friends to Airbnb.
To participate, Airbnb Users must agree to these terms, which become part of the Airbnb Terms of Service. Capitalized terms that are not defined here will have the same meaning given to them in the Airbnb Terms of Service.
How to Earn Referral Travel Credits
Airbnb Users can earn Travel Credits towards future Airbnb travel if: (i) a referred friend clicks on their referral link to create a valid Airbnb account that complies with our Terms of Service; and (ii) the referred friend completes a Qualifying Reservation either as a guest or as a host. Neither the Airbnb User may be the host nor the guest on the Qualifying Reservation booked by the referred friend.
The referring Airbnb User will be credited with the Travel Credit amount described in the accompanying promotional materials. Users may earn a maximum of $5,000 USD Travel Credit per account.
A Qualifying Reservation must have a total value (excluding guest fees or taxes) of at least $75 (or its local currency equivalent* if we support it). It must be booked and paid for via the Airbnb platform, and the referred friend must complete the stay before the Airbnb User can receive Travel Credits.
Redeeming Travel Credits
Travel Credits will automatically appear as a coupon on the checkout page, and must be used on a Qualifying Reservation within one year from the date they are issued. After one year, the Travel Credits will expire. Travel Credits may not be combined with additional coupons. Travel Credits may not transferred or exchanged for any cash or money.
Travel Credits may not be earned by creating multiple Airbnb Accounts. Travel Credits accrued in multiple Airbnb accounts may not be combined into one Airbnb account.
Sharing Referral Links
Referrals should only be used for personal and non-commercial purposes, and only shared with personal connections that will appreciate receiving these invitations. Referral links should not be published or distributed where there is no reasonable basis for believing that all or most of the recipients are personal friends (such as coupon websites, Reddit, or Wikipedia).
Referred friends that have signed up using a valid referral link will also receive a Travel Credit toward their next Qualifying Reservation on Airbnb. The standard Travel Credit is $20 (or its local currency equivalent* if we support it), but may vary in some cases if the referred friend signed up as part of a special promotion. Varying credit amounts and additional terms will be shown in the referral invitation or accompanying promotional materials.
A referred friend may only use one referral link. If a referred friend receives referral links from multiple Airbnb Users, only the corresponding Airbnb User of the referral link used by the referred friend will receive Travel Credit.
If any provision in these terms are held to be invalid, void, or unenforceable, such provision (or the part of it that is making it invalid, void or unenforceable) will be struck and not affect the validity of and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
Termination and Change
Airbnb may suspend or terminate the Referral Program or a user’s ability to participate in the Referral Program at any time for any reason.
We reserve the right to suspend accounts or remove Travel Credits if we notice any activity that we believe is abusive or fraudulent. We reserve the right to review and investigate all referral activities and to suspend accounts or modify referrals as deemed fair and appropriate.
Updates to the Terms
We can update these terms at any time without prior notice. If we modify these terms, we will post the modification on the Airbnb.com website, applications, or services, which are effective upon posting. Continued participation in the Referral Program after any modification shall constitute consent to such modification.
* The referral’s local currency equivalent credit amount will be calculated using a system-wide rate, known as the base exchange rate, for currency conversion using data from one or more third parties, such as OANDA. We regularly update the base exchange rate, but it may not be identical to the real-time market rate.
