Close to tasting rooms, orchards, hiking, birding, biking, skiing, and a brand new brewery. You’ll love the peaceful location, scenery, library, fresh foods & hand-crafted herbal medicines. This room is a good fit for solo adventurers, couples and business travelers, writers, artists, chefs, scientists and anyone interested in some quiet time and sustainable living practices.

El lugar

Located in the guest house of a functioning permaculture farm, this unique room offers a break from the ordinary. It's full of resources for gardeners, activists, artists, herbalists, cooks, dreamers and visionaries. Kick back with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine from next door and enjoy our books, magazines, views and rare seed catalogs. Produce is available at our farm stand from 11-5 on weekends (in season) and we offer handmade lotions, salves, tinctures, teas and infused honeys. Walk to tasting room and hiking trails. Breakfast included. The freezer is stocked with homemade frozen pizzas. $10 each.

This is one of two rooms available for rent in this home. If you'd prefer to have the whole house to yourself, please consider booking both rooms. See Cowiche Canyon Guest House--South Room for availability and pricing.

Disponible para huéspedes

Guests have access to a private room with double bed, closet, drawers, shared fridge, shared bathroom. There is parking space in the driveway. Feel free to explore the grounds. Small children should be accompanied.

The kitchen is stocked with coffee, fair-trade organic teas, spices, farm-grown or foraged herbal tea fixings, condiments and farm-made preserves.

A breakfast of homemade yogurt, fruit (in season), granola, biscuits and farm-fresh eggs is included in the cost of your stay. Coffee and teas are available. You'll find the items in the fridge, freezer and shelves and you are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare them in any way you'd like.

There are herbs and hand crafted plant-based products throughout the house. We work hard to carefully label everything with ingredients and instructions, but not all plants are good for everyone. You'll find books on herbs and medicinal plants in the kitchen. If you are unfamiliar with a particular herb or ingredient, please take the time to look it up before you use it. Each person is different. The plants and herbs we offer are generally considered to be safe for everyone. However, we ask that you use common sense and avoid any plant to which you have a known allergic reaction. The plants are there for educational purposes and personal use, not because we are recommending them to everyone.

Atención a los huéspedes

The guest house is located on our 12-acre property. We live across the street and through the orchard in the big white farm house. Farmer Jeff works on the land next to the house and runs the farms stand on weekends. We're close enough to be of service, but far enough away for you to have an independent experience.

You are welcome to entertain, but we ask that everyone respect the needs of other guests and follow house rules. Guests may stay with you for an additional $15 per night. If you do plant to have a guest, please let us know so we can make sure the house is stocked with towels and breakfast items for everyone.

As you explore, you'll see us working on sustainable building and gardening projects. Feel free to check out the property and what's going on. Do bear in mind, however, that we've often got deadlines to meet and people to feed. We'll do our best to answer your questions, but without a scheduled appointment, we regret that are not always able to give our guests as much of our time as we would like.

If you are an artist, artisan, chef, grower, teacher, etc., who is aligned with the principles of permaculture and you would like to share your knowledge and skills with us in return for all or part of your stay, do let us know. We'll see if we can strike up a deal! Past guests have offered workshops, meals, presentations, original art, and other opportunities to our community in exchange for room and board.

Otros aspectos destacables

If you are pregnant, nursing, or have known allergies, please be aware that some of the natural products we use may contain essential oils or other components you should avoid. Products are labeled, but we also ask that you alert us in advance and/or bring toiletries that are suited to your personal needs.

In spring through fall, there are rattlesnakes in the canyon. At times--though not often--they take refuge closer to the house. Please exercise caution when it warms up... generally from April through September. If you hear or see one, simply move as quickly as possible in another direction. They don't want to interact with you any more than you do with them!

This was a fun and fabulously quirky place to stay. The small, thoughtful touches (a.k.a. delicious food) were what made it really great – from homemade molasses cookies (that I am still thinking about a week later) to farm-fresh eggs. The location was convenient, too: we had fun hiking the Cowiche Canyon Trail, for instance, which is not too far away. The space was clean and comfortable. A unique and lovely experience!

This place is a gem! Great location close to Wilbridge winery where I spent a couple of enjoyable hours. Also recommend the hike in Cowiche Canyon. The guesthouse was immaculate and filled with nice touches including biscuits, herbal remedies and jams/jellies. I enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast in a very peaceful and serene setting. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a quiet oasis.

We loved the location, surrounded by hills and orchards, and bird watching! The cottage is charming and the homemade breakfast items and the essential oils are wonderful! I hope to be able to come back again someday!

Amazing place in Yakima! My husband and I stayed here while in Yakima between hiking North Cascades and Mt. Rainier. The location is picturesque, there is a great vineyard just up the road (Wills Ridge, 3 min walk) where we had a nice wine tasting and enjoyed the summer evening after our long car trip. Janet's place is cozy and clean and the breakfast was AMMMAZZING. She has the fridge stocked with whole milk (which I so appreciated as I love it in my coffee), homemade biscuits and jams, eggs and the most creamy and delicious homemade yogurt and granola. 5 stars and hands way up for this place!

Great peaceful place, a little isolated, but that makes the peacefulness so nice.

This serene location is nestled among apple orchards and a vineyard. The host is responsive and offers several special touches: handmade lotions and creams, farm fresh eggs; homemade breakfast biscuits, yogurt, granola, jams, teas, and pizza. I'm not sure where she and her daughter find the time for it all. It was a fabulous find.
