GOOD NEWS: AS OF JAN 15, 2020 THIS ROOM HAS A BRAND NEW 7" IKEA MORGEDAL RESILIENT FOAM MATTRESS FOR YOUR SLEEPING COMFORT!

This is a cozy beautiful, clean, bright, big (100sq/ft - 9 sq/m) bedroom with a double size bed topped by a 7" resilient foam mattress. It is in a classic Toronto Edwardian era row house. The house was built in the early 1,900's, it has a lot of charm and character, and is a great representation of Belle Époque Toronto architecture.

Located in Bloodale, one of Toronto's hippest, most up-and-coming neighbourhoods, you are literally walking distance to the best cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops in the city. Check out my guidebook for the neighbourhood here:

https://www.airbnb.ca/things-to-do/rooms/12755113.

There are abundant parks and multi use paths nearby for outdoors pursuits, and the subway is a 5 - 10 minute walk (500/m - 1,800ft - 3/blocks) for when you wish to explore Toronto further afield. Toronto's Bike Share program also has stations in the area, and I provide 2 bikes that guests can use. Most of Toronto's major attractions: CN Tower, Aquarium, Rogers Center (or Skydome as the locals call it), Scotiabank Arena, Financial District, etc. are 30/40 min or less by transit or bike. The express train to the airport is also a convenient 15 - 20 min walk away. Despite the close proximity to the lively Bloor St. West strip, the 5 min walk home brings you back to a calm residential neighbourhood. Please note that the house fronts Lansdowne Ave which has a bus route that conveniently runs every 10 minutes, however light sleepers may be bothered by the sound of traffic.

This is an good space for a single or couple as there is a double size bed. Price is slightly higher for 2 people. The host is on site most days, and when not on site can be easily and quickly reached via the AirBnB app for any inquiries about the space. Each room is also provided with a manual to help guests find and use the home's features. There is a $15 cleaning fee for each stay, but this is more than offset by discounts for stays of a week or longer.

Acceso de los huéspedes
You have your own private room with a keypad lock on the door. In fact, all doors on the house are on keypads, so you never have to worry about carrying a key around with you. The keypad can even be set to a code you chose so it is easy for you to remember. All other areas of the house are shared, except for my personal bedroom.

Otros aspectos a destacar
I have a German Shepherd/Russell Terrier mix named Gnüdles (pronounced Noodles) who is with me every other week. She is an adorable dog, but be aware that she will greet you very enthusiastically. If you like the idea of having an "away from home pet", you will love her!

The house is over 100 years old so some floors creak and some doors squeak. I am slowly restoring it to it's Edwardian charm while providing all the modern amenities. There may be occasional reno work going on. This will not affect your sleeping quarters. The house has A/C to cool it down in the summer months, however when the outside temperature gets over 30C, your room will be comfortable though not necessarily cool. That is simply a function of the age of the house. Each room is provided with a fan to help circulate the air if you feel that is necessary. In winter, the house is kept between 20-22C and rooms are also equipped with personal space heaters should guests require a little more warmth.

The room is cleaned between every guest stay. Bedding and towels are washed and changed, the room is swept and dusted, plants are watered, mirrors are cleaned, and any other cleaning required is done. Guests staying more than a week have two complete clean changes of bedding at their disposal. The common areas are cleaned on a regular basis with the washroom being completely cleaned at least once a week. Guests are expected to clean up after themselves when using common areas: put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher or hand wash, clean counters and tables, put trash/recycling/compost in the appropriate receptacles. Guests can of course contact me in person for any of their other immediate needs.

COVID-19 Update: In addition to the cleaning schedule already outlined above, I am taking the following measures:

1. All frequently touched common surfaces are cleaned daily with a solution of 1/3 cup bleach to 1 gallon of warm water as recommended by the CDC.

2. A hand sanitizing station is provided by the front entry door.

3. Guests are encouraged to isolate in their rooms as much as possible and maintain proper physical distancing (2m or approx. 6ft) in common areas.

4. No unregistered guests are allowed on the property.

Additionally each room has their own supply of facial tissue and disinfectant wipes.

Please be mindful that you are sharing this space with other guests. Keep noise to a minimum, reduce your devices' volume or use earphones when watching/listening to media or making phone/Skype calls, avoid phone/Skype calls between 11PM and 6AM, limit washroom visits to 15 min or less, time consuming grooming activities such as hair drying or applying makeup should be done in your room not the washroom, avoid using loud personal grooming devices such as hair dryers between 11PM and 6AM, keep washroom visits to a minimum between 11PM and 6AM, avoid taking showers between 11PM and 6AM. Overnight stays are not allowed for unregistered guests.

Wallace Emerson, Toronto, Ontario

The neighbourhood is called Bloordale, or sometimes Wallace-Emerson. It is a former mixed residential/industrial area that is transforming more and more into a residential/entertainment area. It is also in the heart of the Little Portugal area of Toronto. There is a great mix of young professionals, long established Portuguese/Brazilian-Canadian families, and young families restoring period houses living in the 'hood.

Whether you want to stay out late catching a live band or DJ, enjoy a cross section of Toronto's vaunted food scene, grab a pint at a local brew pub, shop for unique locally made goods, visit the many small eclectic art galleries, or just enjoy the best coffee in the city while reading a book in a park, everything is within walking distance.

Check out the guide book for the neighbourhood here:

Durante tu estadía
You can have as much or as little interaction with me as you like. I am always happy to share my experience of 30+ years living in Toronto to direct you to the most interesting restaurants, pubs, events and activities the city has to offer. Like most hosts who are sharing their home, I am around quite a bit, but I also have a social life and work that take me away from the house. However, when I am not home, I am easily reachable via the AirBnB app for any inquiries about the house.
