La Jolla Bay is a Marine Protected Area that is home to a thriving ecosystem that boasts a high concentration of sea life, has a natural boat launch, which allows safe ocean entry year-round, and is famous for its Sea Caves and Marine Reserve. No experience is required. Great for all skill levels. Your guide will kick things off with a paddle tutorial on the beach. If surf exists, we will help push your kayak through any breakers. As we paddle through La Jolla’s Marine Reserve keep an eye out for Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Turtles, Pelicans, Dolphin and Gray whales in the fall/winter. Note: We cannot guarantee sea life. If conditions are safe, we will help guide your kayak into Emerald Cave. If it's not safe to enter Emerald Cave, we will still paddle out & explore La Jolla's World-Famous Marine Reserve. Note: if not safe we WILL NOT enter the Emerald Cave, we don't cancel if the cave isn't safe and spend about a minute inside. La Jolla Bay is an Uncontrollable Environment. I'll do my best to accommodate you.* Tide pools, or rocky intertidal zones, are small collections of ocean water trapped by rocks as the ocean level recedes. This area is covered by the ocean half of the day- during high tide- and the pools are exposed at low tide, which creates a unique, yet fragile, habitat for lots of small invertebrates and fish! At our meeting spot, I will give you a brief talk on safety and tide pool rules, as all San Diego tide pools have a strict "no collection" policy. Once we understand how to tide pool safely and respectfully, the adventure begins! You will help us free fly our falcons on the cliffs of La Jolla at the Torrey Pines Gliderport, a National Historical Place and beloved landmark. In our Experience, offered through Total Raptor Experience San Diego, you'll learn how to call and release one of our trained birds using a falconry glove, and admire their aerial skills while they soar above the cliffs. You'll get an up-close and personal view of their mastery of flight as they perform simulated hunting behaviors, swooping, ground-skimming and diving at high speed after a moving target. At the same time we will discuss raptor flight styles and how they contribute to the diverse ecologies of different types of hawks and falcons. There will be plenty of time for questions and pictures with our birds. My hope is to send you home with a new, or perhaps renewed, love for these majestic predators and the environment. You will learn the basics of acrylic painting, such as color matching, manipulating a paintbrush, visualizing perspective, and more. The class will start with a brief introduction and then we will hop right into the painting! Throughout the class you will have time to take breaks while your paint is drying, so there is opportunity to go to the bathroom, or stretch your legs if necessary. At the end of the class, you'll have learned techniques from a professional artist, and you will be able to leave with your very own finished painting to hang at home! Remember, there are no mistakes in painting, only happy accidents.

Intimidated by the title of the class? Don't be! Move at your own pace! Classes are catered to all levels of ability. Class begins on the sand with a land lesson that includes brief paddle instruction and discussion how to use equipment and be on the water safely. From there once students are feeling comfortable and secure we paddle out up wind and along the shore and find a safe space to drop anchor and conduct class. Students are then led through approximately 45-60 minutes of yoga poses catered to a paddle board. Then we paddle back calmly drifting down wind back to where we began, on the shoreline. Join me on a journey through one of San Diego's most iconic areas! Since the waterfront is large, we will be touring the major sites with the wind in our hair on electric scooters. No walking required ;) We will start by getting sized up for helmets, going over the basic operation of the scooters & getting comfortable riding in a quiet open area. From there, we will start our 1.5-hour adventure! I will guide you through some of the most picturesque areas of La Jolla sharing my unique knowledge, stopping for photos along the way. All photos are included! Our first stop will be at some jaw-dropping viewpoints in the village of Bird Rock where we will pause for some pictures. Next, we spend some time exploring the surrounding neighborhoods & elegant houses as we head toward La Jolla's famous waterfront. We will then ride to Windansea beach, a favorite spot for local surfers. Once we've snapped a few pictures there, it's time to head to The Children's Pool. You will have some time to explore this area on foot wandering through its beauty, meeting lots of sea lions along the way. Finally, we will cruise to La Jolla Cove. Here you will also get time to explore on foot before hopping back on the scooters and returning to our original starting point.
