Great for young children

In Grantham, the Meres Leisure Centre has a water slide and toddler splash sessions. Jump Revolution has trampolining sessions especially for toddlers and older ones. Check out the adventure playground at Belton House. A bit further away, in Bottesford village, there is Little Jack's Farm which has a soft play area as well as farm animals that children can touch and hold. Another local animal park is J and J Alpacas in Dry Doddington. Both of these attractions have tea rooms attached. In Melton Mowbray, Twin Lakes theme park offers a great day out for the whole family.

Bring a comfortable pair of shoes or boots

South Lincolnshire is a fabulous place for walking, especially for anyone who enjoys completely unspoilt countryside. For example, there are lovely walks in the Vale of Belvoir or around Rutland Water. One thing that makes the county so special is the number of undiscovered, idyllic villages which look like they have come straight out of Midsomer.
