Sightseeing

This is great for both the keen gardener and for families. A wonderful bird show for the kids is available but we do recommend booking. The gardens are simply stunning, and the kids fairy garden is super cute. A lovely tea house to finish off your tour with yummy scones.

This has to be one of my favourite places on the coast. Amazing walks and tracks, great picnic spots for the family and a wonderful cafe which does amazing breakfast.

This dairy farm and factory tour is wonderful for kids. They can run around and have fun and see how the local produce is made. You can also purchase some local produce which is delicious.

A spectacular sight in the right time of year. The waterfall is stunning and you can swim in the natural Rockpool - which in summer is perfect to cool you down, but in winter a little chilly. Great for families that like a little hike and like to be in nature. Kids can spot different bugs and animals on route to the waterfall. Stop and have a picnic at the bottom, take a dip and then walk back up.

Neighbourhoods

Maleny is a gorgeous town that has an old feeling to it. I love it. Cute shops that are one off names, great cafes, antique stores, bakeries and deli's. All this set in the most stunning hinterland scenery. The area was once occupied by the Nalbo and Dallambara peoples of the Gubbi Gubbi nation who each year gathered at Baroon Pocket on the banks of the Obi Obi River to feast on Bunya nuts. The explorer Ludwig Leichhardt witnessed one of these gatherings and described it as "This plain they call Booroon ... seems the rendezvous for fights between the hostile tribes who come from near and far to enjoy the harvest of the Bunya". In fact it was an annual gathering of Aborigines from as far away as the Gold Coast and the Darling Downs.Although dairy farming dominated the local economy (a butter factory was opened in in 1904 and a second factory in 1912) the area became increasingly focussed on mixed farming with small crops and orchards replacing the pasturelands.
