A 13th century village pub, it recently won Devon Dining Pub of the Year. Outstandingly good food, it's our favourite inn by far and a 20 minute walk from the cottage (or 5 min drive). Does great ales, gins, wine and atmosphere (esp in the older part of the pub). Book ahead - especially during holiday times.

A must-visit when in Bigbury on Sea - walk over to Burgh Island when the tide is out, come back by sea tractor if the tide is in. The Pilchard have a large outdoor seating area looking over the beach and a very cosy indoor bar. Food is casual dining, but the best you'll taste. Quirky little place that's a joy to sit in - or out (large garden for summer & winter dining) at. Seafood and meat dishes best, but some veggie options too. The Old SchoolHouse sits in a field just above the beach at Mothecombe.
