Melbourne is only a short drive away and with so much culture and site-seeing, what's not to love. Docklands is just one of the many sites, and with summer markets, stalls, river cruises, bars and restaurants, you're sure to find something to do. I love taking pics, and the pre-storm lighting here with the surrounding mirrored buildings makes for a good photo!

Only a 5 mins drive up South road, Karkarook Park is a recreational and environmental oasis, revegetated with indigenous plants. It's the perfect spot to connect with nature, watch the sunset across the lake and count how many different birds you can see from the pier. The 15-hectare lake is a haven for canoeing, kayaking or sailing. Previously a sand mine, the beautiful lake now provides a refuge for many water birds.

Fantastic day out at the beach - a beautiful calm and protected, half moon shape bay with its very own shipwreck: HMVS Cerberus! Down the other end of the beach are some amazing sandstone cliff formations with gorgeous colours ranging from yellows to burnt oranges, and red colours. And the fish and chip shop isn't too bad either!

The 1000 Steps is probably Melbourne’s most popular bushwalk. Officially the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk, walkers love the challenge of the steep trail, locals appreciate the convenience and tourists just want a picture of a gorgeous rainforest walk. The Kokoda Track Memorial Walk (incorporating the 1000 Steps) departs from Ferntree Gully Picnic Ground, winding up a steep hill along a creek through lush rainforest, before emerging into a clearing where you can enjoy great views of Melbourne through the trees. Complete the loop by taking the Lyrebird Track back to the carpark.
