This is an adventure. High altitude, great views. The road is quite rough, but great guanaco and condor viewing along the way.
We went with guides to drive us, and be able to fish in the Laguna. But it isn't necessary. Just take cash because there is a nominal fee to enter the provincial natural park.

Chacras is a charming pueblo, 30 minutes outside Mendoza city, where families live among the old-style weekend homes, when Chacras was the place to cool down for the summer months. The flea market on Sundays in the Plaza is fun.

La Consulta has all the basics: vegetables, butcher, bread, medialunas, farmacies & almacenes along Ejército de Los Andes.
Further afield, our choices:
Supermarket Veja in Eugenio Bustos: the cleanest, most complete one. Just off Ruta 40.
In La Consulta, we prefer supermarket Asia to El Atomo.
Butcher - Los Camilos in Eugenio Bustos (especially chorizos.)
Ice cream - Santilli on the La Consulta plaza
Pharmacies - Virgen de Lujan on Ejército de Los Andes.
Gasoline: Shell in La Consulta is more modern than YPF.
ATM - only at Banco Nacion in LC. Avoid lines and get cash in Tunuyan instead.

Siesta is real
La Consulta really does shut down between 13hs and 18hs.
Shops open from 9 to 13hs, and again from 18hs to 21hs.
On Saturdays, they close at 13hs until Monday morning.

We live in a vineyard, so flat comfortable shoes/sandals/flipflops make sense.

For phone data, Claro has better service than Movistar in this corner of the planet.

Cars must have headlights on at all times.
You cannot bring fresh fruit and vegetables from Mendoza city into the Uco valley! They will be confiscated at one agricultural pest prevention stop on the ruta 40 along the way.

If you would like a local guide, Lucas can organize your sightseeing needs, winery visits, and take care of anything you would like, including horseback riding, massages, trekking, rafting and so on.
He can also organize your shopping, meals and barbecues at home, and everything so all you have to do is relax. Lucas is 549 for Argentina followed by 261 for Mendoza. 2160367

Altitude: 1027m above sea level
We find we can feel a little tired on day 1. It could just be relaxing and a few glasses of wine, but I do think altitude has an impact. Drink a lot of water!
We enjoy sport, so we usually skip a tough workout on Day 1.

We have board games, cards, balls to play outdoors.
The TV has access to Netflix, plus a basic Direct TV service.
You will find loads of sports equipment, tennis and paddle raquets, golf clubs, baseball bats, ping pong sets in a cupboard downstairs, directly behind the fireplace in the main living room.
No te lo pierdas
Pool safety: do NOT dive.
The pool has graduated depth. So very low at the steps, for little ones to splash, or mums to drink wine, and then just over a meter in the lap pool section.
Please do not ever dive. It is too shallow.
Also: the pool is fully fenced, with two gates. Please, please watch your kids, to make sure they are safe, and keep the doors closed at all times for their safety.
