Hiking

Lake Wedington shore trail

The Lakeshore Hiking Trail circles a large portion of the lake. Sloping hills in the area offer great vantage points to take photos of the lake, especially from the Gazebo located just off of Lakeshore Trail. When the lake is high, hikers are presented with a cascading waterfall that can also be found when walking along the lakeshore trail.

The Lakeshore Hiking Trail circles a large portion of the lake. Road Biking

Ride out of the house onto AR-16, head either east or west following two scenic road biking routes for miles of pastures and farmlands views: Wedington Blacktop Scenic Road - head west to the Lake Wedington Recreation Area, this 50+ mile scenic road route features a mixture of rural county roads and lesser-traveled state highways rolling through Civil War-era communities. Savoy Loop Scenic Road - head east, after crossing the Illinois River, following the River south, the route heads east up Goose Creek Road for over 5 miles of county farmlands where old barns dot the landscape. Mountain Biking

Lake Wedington boasts some great classic cross country style trails that seem endless. A super fun 7 mile loop then tack on the 6 mile out-n-back to Twin Knobs for some techy trail with one incredible view. The trailhead will be on your right a little bit after you see the lake.
