About Nomini Creek
Nomini Creek is a brackish waterway, meaning it is a mix of fresh and saltwater. The creek connects with the Potomac River, Chesapeake Bay, and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on the tide and season, you may encounter a variety of fresh and saltwater marine life, including blue crab, striped bass, blue catfish, white perch, yellow perch, black drum, croaker, spot, and more. Bay nettles may be present during the warmest months of the year.

If you're planning to go fishing on Nomini Creek, we have two fishing poles and tackle available to use. Please bring any additional gear you may need. On your way to the cottage, stop by Bird Dogs to pick up bait (nightcrawlers, bloodworms, minnows, etc.).
For those interested in crabbing, two pots are available to toss off the dock. To catch blue crabs, try using chicken necks for bait.
