Lovely local bar with great Guinness and a good food menu. Only 500m from the cottage heading towards Croagh Patrick. Ask for Colm or Greg.

Great bar/restaurant, especially good for seafood. Again, only a short distance from the cottage on bustling Westport Quay.

This is one of our favourites. Run by Etzio, he and the restaurant has a charm all to themselves. Lovely food and good fun. Serves a bit later that most other restaurants in town too.

Parks & Nature

Croagh Patrick is the iconic mountain in Murrisk (8km from the centre of Westport). It is 3.3km from top to bottom. On a clear day the views are spectacular. Allow 2.5 - 3 hours. The bottom half of the mountain is the easiest part of the climb. Be sure to wear good footwear, bring a stick (you can get them at the bottom), and have warm clothes in case the weather changes.

Plenty of things to do here if you like outdoor pursuits. Also a lovely bar with a huge patio, and excellent pizzas. If you want somewhere to jog safely away from the roads, the grounds are ideal. You can also walk from the quays to the centre of Westport Town.

Sightseeing

The greenway runs from Westport Quay all of the way to Achill Island (40 km one way). It is ideal for cycling and walking. You can go as far as you like, and there are the two towns of Newport and Mulranney to stop for food/drink along the way. Well worth a go!

The ferry leaves from Roonagh Pier (past Luisburgh) a few times a day. Clare Island is perfect for a day trip, and you can hike/walk or cycle when you get there. Well worth a visit.
