Portland does Ethiopian really well, and we have lots of recommendations if you want to do an Ethiopian tour - but this is the one we always go back to. It's a bit more upscale and elegant than other Ethiopian joints, but is still affordable and so, so delicious, with a full liquor license. Also tons of meat options for a mixed family. Try the Beyaynetu, which is a combination of their best vegetable dishes.

Bollywood Theater is a fun, swanky Indian restaurant that always has a ton of vegan and non-vegan options. The vibe is just so fun and vibrant, and it's super family (and date) friendly!

Favorite Restaurants
There are just our favorite restaurants, regardless of cuisine, that we keep coming back to. We're voracious eaters and lovers of all types of cuisine, but these are obviously just our opinions. Yelp tends to agree with us though. All price points and styles - just great food.
I love Kachka with all my heart and soul. It's Russian and sexy (as a Russian myself, I can say those words don't often go together in cuisine), and the vodka selection is amazing. We definitely recommend going with their tasting menu of all their appetizers - go hungry!

We love the food at this place. It's not fancy, but consistent and delicious. Pro-tip: DO NOT order from here on Seamless, as they take forever - we've had it take more than 3 hours!! If you want to do take-out, we recommend ordering it yourself and picking up - they're much quicker that way and accurate as to the time estimate.

I'm pretty sure Tusk puts some form of addictive substance in their food, because it's just so insanely good. Mediterranean but unique and fresh and interesting, not cheap but not too expensive, worth every penny.

Bamboo itself is really great, but their happy hour is unbeatable. Great prices on super fresh, ethically raised fish and sushi, with food for fish haters as well. Their burger is surprisingly good as well.

This is our go-to sushi restaurant. Their fish is consistently fresh, their rolls creative and excellent, and while not cheap, we find the prices commensurate with the quality.

Go through this Mexican grocery store to the back, where you'll find traditional, delicious tacos, including Kat's favorite - lengua. There's nothing fancy about it, but it's also super authentic and did we mention delicious!

This is a chain, but it's the best of the chains. The truffle fries are magic, and the burgers are the perfect size (somewhere between a slider and a normal burger) to make it so you're not solely eating fries for lunch, if you don't want to.

This place isn't actually my favorite, but it's closest to our house and it's perfectly good. I just dislike coffee shops that don't have comfy seating, and so I get annoyed by this place.

This coffee is conveniently located near the river, and is a great stop if you need a break when you're near OMSI or the wonderful antique stores that are in the area. The coffee itself is excellent, and there's usually seating, which is a rarity for Portland coffee shops.
