The South Congress District is a popular attraction to locals and tourists alike. There are many local options for food & drink and numerous locally owned businesses. In particular, there is a great range and selection of cowboy boot stores (Allen’s, Heritage Boot, Tecovas).
A few of Austin’s famous murals are in this area. “Greetings From Austin” is located at South 1st and W Annie Street. “i love you so much” is located at Congress and W James Street.
Just north of these businesses is the South Congress Bridge, best known for its colony of bats best seen around sunset in the summers.
