When the 1st Lady came to town, this is where she ate! Locals love the Boatyard and its where many go to watch recaps of the Wednesday night sailing races, celebrate the Full Moon each month, or participate in the spring Sock Burning tradition. One of the few spots in town with a raw bar, and they always have a house made smoked fish appetizer that changes daily. The Boatyard is in Eastport, a neighborhood I consider a must see for an Annapolis visit. They also have a nice breakfast with Crabs Benedict, or lox with Naval Bagels.

If you're not careful you will walk right past Fox's Den and you don't want to miss it. Great cocktails, and farm to table fare with a speakeasy feel. You will see a fox sign and take the steps down to the cellar that has been converted into a restaurant. Do not miss the gimlet, made with either vodka or gin - it is fantastic!

Tsunami is one of 3 locally owned restaurants that I love. The other 2 are Metropolitan and Lemon Grass. The owner/chef does a great job on both cocktails and food with fresh ingredients, plenty of vegetarian options and awesome specials. Everyone thinks of sushi when they think of Tsunami, but they have much much more! Tsunami is where i had the best veal chop of my life! All 3 restaurants are on West Street, and Metropolitan has rooftop seating and live music on weekends. Support small businesses and try out one of these restaurants - I promise you won't be sorry!

The Point is not in downtown Annapolis, but it is our favorite spot for eating crabs on the water. Second is Cantler's, closer to downtown, and lastly and not recommended is MIke's on the South River. If you are looking to crack some Maryland Blue crabs on the water, these are really the only 3 choices I know of. The Point is more pricey, but their sides and other menu options are superb, whereas this is not the case at Cantler's or Mike's sadly.

Severn Inn has a beautiful view of the Naval Academy bridge and the Academy itself. It is upscale waterfront dining, but has a very reasonable brunch, that locals really enjoy. Tbh, I've only been for happy hour and dinner, but friends I trust rave about the brunch. It's all you can eat, which I generally don't do, but if you like the brunch buffet, it's supposed to be great.

Paul's is a locals spot that is owned by a greek family in town. As such, they have most of the traditional greek menu choices, in addition to some great specials. I usually order a fish dish here and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is nice too, it's in an old house converted into a restaurant.

If you want to stay downtown, near Ego Alley, for lunch, I like the old stand-by, McGarvey's (not the greasy spoon Chick'n'Ruths!). They have really great seafood specials and soups. Just homemade good food, not particularly gourmet, but they almost always have some type of fish sandwich on special, and generally have plenty of crab options: softshells (in season), crab dip, crab soup, crab pretzels....they also have a raw bar.

I love the ambience, view and food at Carrol's Creek. Also, since it is in Eastport, parking is no problem. Annapolis actually doesn't have many waterfront dining spots, and this is one of them and has plenty of seafood and great service. Reservations recommended.

The Jetty is a fun spot on Sundays, when they have live music for the people driving on 50 West returning from the beach and want to get off and not sit in Bay Bridge traffic. Hint: once you are there, you will also be stuck on that side of the bridge until traffic dies down around 4. It's outside with a great breeze and they have a great deal on crabs (I wouldn't order anything else lol).
