The food is amazing at this small cafe just across the street from the apartment. The owner and chef, a tribal member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux, was formally trained at the Culinary Institute of America and went on to work in the New Orleans area before coming home to Flandreau. If you check out the menu and specials on any given day, you can see the mix of cultures and flair he brings to the dishes he prepares, and how much fun he is having tempting locals tastebuds. This small cafe is a gem.

This local steakhouse has recently been taken over by a young couple from the community, it's a longtime favorite of both locals and visitors for miles around. Great steaks, fun atmosphere, great casual bar area for less formal dining, along the river.

Recently remodeled, the hotel and casino offer a great place to grab a bite to eat, have a drink, try your luck, hear a national touring musician in a small, intimate venue, attend a rodeo, witness a powwow, and see some beautiful locally done Native artwork.

It's best when you've got time to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal. The owners do an incredible amount to support and give all they can to the community, on every level. Fabulous, fast, friendly, budget friendly. This family-owned authentic Mexican restaurant has never disappointed, and it's a favorite stop for us because of how fast they serve up a delicious meal (we're often buzzing around between kids, work, music, etc)!
