Sant'Ambroeus -Corso Matteotti 7 The perfect spot to have a breakfast right in the middle of the “fashion jungle”. Sant’Ambroeus takes its name from the patron of the city and it is one of the most traditional coffee places in Milan. It is excellent for breakfast, lunch and aperitivo prior to dinner. A classic, always good. The food is perfect the atmosphere a bit boring but their “veranda” on the side of Palazzo della Scala it’s a worthy stop. Good also for a glass later in the afternoon Piazza della Scala 5 | +390 2 806 88 201 With windows looking out onto La Scala, the Trussardi touch is a light one; the parquetry and leather combo is far from stuffy. The food too has a directness, with seasonal dishes like grilled scallops with ginger powder and peanut cream or roast spring lamb with potato, avocado and lime, mixing it up with earthier Milanese favourites. Via Guglielmo Marconi 1 (Piazza Duomo) +39 0272093814 www.giacomoarengario.com If you decide to go to Giacomo Arengario you will have lunch or dinner with one of the most extraordinary views in the world as the main façade of the 13th century cathedral and the entrance of the “Galleria” will be located just in front of you! The food is very good and you may taste both meat or seafood. My favourites include the “Paccheri” a very particular type of pasta and the “Pempura of seafood and vegetables”. Excellent wine list, service is efficient and friendly. If you like quiet restaurants do not go there! Always open.

Luini famous panzerotti is a Must in visiting Milan! Bread/pizza dough folded in a half moon shape with a mozzarella & tomato filling inside (2,50€) Expect some que, but it's totally worth it!. A not to be missed Milanese snack is panzerotti (fried turnover stuffed with tomato and mozzarella), served from the busy counter of Luini, around the corner from the Galleria. The Luini bakery created its wonderful panzerotto – it’s something like a doughy pizza – in 1949, and the recipe has been a carefully guarded secret ever since. The quaintly old-fashioned shop is always full of locals queuing at the counter for the original mozzarella-and-tomato stuffed panzerotti – which come fried or oven-baked – and absolutely everything is made fresh daily on the premises. There's always a long queue but the line moves fast. Shopping : FoxTown, the luxury outlet in Mendrisio (in Switzerland, less than 20 minutes drive). Como The antique centre of the town is a must-see. The 12th century walls contain the Romanesque Cathedral the Broletto (medieval town hall), the Basilicas of St. Abbondio and St. Carpoforo, and the majestic neoclassical Villa Olmo, hosting major art exhibitions during the summer months. Bellagio Worldwide known as the “pearl of Lake Como”, Bellagio is suspended like a pendant on the promontory where the lake’s western and eastern arms split and head south. Villas & Gardens Como is worldwide famous for its majestic villas and their flourishing gardens. Villa Balbianello, Villa Carlotta, Villa Melzi, Villa Erba...all breathtaking! Cernobbio The shoreline of Cernobbio, a graceful town at 5 minutes walking distance from Sheraton Lake Como Hotel, comprises a compact quarter of old houses just off the lakeside piazza and is laced with a series of fine villas fronting the water. It is ideal for a walk along the lakeshore, followed by an ice-cream or a cocktail in the picture square facing the small pier. Entertainment : There are three international casinos within Lake Como at Campione d’Italia, Mendrisio and Lugano Local Dishes: Lake Como’s most distinctive dish is pizzoccheri, a ribbon-like pasta made from buckwheat and wheat flours, traditionally served with Savoy cabbage and diced potatoes. The pasta tastes best when it is sprinkled liberally with the Casera cheese produced in the Valtellina valley just east of Lake Como. Local Day Trips: Fans of "Star Wars Episode II" may want to visit the Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como’s western shore, which was used as a set in the film. The villa, built in the 18th century on the site of an abandoned Franciscan monastery, offers guided tours. The definitive Lake Como experience may be a ferry boat ride across the lake at sunset. Many people find Bellagio, nicknamed "The Pearl of the Lake," the most striking example of the distinctive, local architecture. The Milan Cathedral - Duomo is a Cathedral and you will see many in Italy though none as glorious as the one in Milan. The Duomo cathedral is the symbol of Milan.  It's also the real centre of Milan - all the roads radiate out from the Duomo at its heart.  The huge plaza outside it is a meeting place. The duomo stays open and the Quad d’Oro boutiques come to life at around 3pm. It is renowned for its size (it is the third largest Catholic Church in the world after St Peter’s in Rome and the Seville Cathedral) and for its many statues (more than 3400). Its construction probably started in 1386 and  took almost 600 years to build. Note: you will not be allowed to enter into the Duomo if you are dressed inappropriately (e.g. legs or shoulders uncovered).  However, there is no dress code for the roof.Going up onto the roof is a must-do. The entrance ( Duomo info point) is located to the left. You can climb the many stairs to the roof for 7€ (250 steps) or take the elevator for 12€ (less if you're a 'senior citizen'.  Well worth the price to see all the gargoyles, statues, flying buttresses and so forth up close, and a view of the city and beyond.  Entrance to the church is free. Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours On a clear day you can see all the way to the Alps.  Reservation on line and in advance is not needed . To appreciate this beautiful cathedral in all its glory, take the lift to the roof, from where you to get a breathtaking view of the Alps on a clear day.

Piazza Mercanti - Loggia of the Merchants Piazza dei Mercanti was the marketplace where artisans, cobblers, seamstresses, weavers, tailors and bakers offered their goods for little money. Along with them also advocates proposed their services on street in Via Mercanti. Check out the Palace of Reason, which divides the Via dei Mercanti from the Piazza dei Mercanti. On the ground floor, you will see the Loggia of the Merchants, a portico where merchants gathered to sell their wares. And it is exactly this spot that holds a romantic secret. It is an acoustic effect, created by the geometry of the portico’s arches: if one stands in the corner of the loggia and speaks, even quietly, facing the columns, anyone standing in the opposite angle can hear exactly what was said. It is told that since the Medieval Age, the merchants used this intriguing method of conversation to exchange business details undercover.

The basilica of SAN’AMBROGIO Piazza Sant'Ambrogio 15 The church is dedicated to Ambrose, bishop of Milan. It is a superb example of Lombard Romanesque architecture. First built from 379 to 386, it was then a typically Palaeochristian structure. At that time Ambrose had named it “Basilica Martyrum.”Don’t miss the superb Golden Altar by Volvinio. In addition, there are extensive frescoes in the seventh chapel at the end of the right nave, which leads into the Chapel of San Vittore in Ciel d'Oro. In the apse, the large mosaic depicts the Savour between Saints Gervasio and Protasio. In the left-hand section of the nave, there is a fine Late-Roman sarcophagus, known as the Stilicone sarcophagus, now part of a Mediaeval pulpit. In the crypt, there is a large container in bronze and crystal glass, containing the remains of Saints Ambrose, Protasio and Gervasio. On the left side of piazza Sant’Ambrogio stands the ancient Corinthian column dating back to the end of the II – beginning of the III century and named the column “of the Devil”. It was transported there from a different location. Constructed in the ancient era, it is completely made of marble and was named following a legend that told the tale of a battle between Sant’Ambrogio and the devil. History recounts that the column was a means of communication with hell and that it was possible to smell sulphur coming from the two holes. It can be reached by M2 (green line) - Sant'Ambrogio stop.

NAVIGLI DISTRICT Enjoyment at the Naviglio Grande and Corso Porta Ticinese Navigli District Alzaia Naviglio Grande and surrounding areas- M2 Porta Genova FS The Navigli are a widespread network of canals whose history is linked to Leonardo da Vinci, during his time in Milan from 1482 to 1499 he found fertile ground for his genius: in fact, he studied this sophisticated system of navigable canals to ferry people and merchandise to Milan, to irrigate the fields and to defend the city – that made Milan a real “city of water”.
