Charter Taxi vs Route Taxi
Charter taxi
I recommend guests to use a charter taxi to get around Negril, and the island in general. Its much faster than a route taxi, but also more convenient, it just cost a little more. But Definitely worth the time to have the driver pick you up where ever you are when you need a ride.
Route Taxi.
Generally, to keep fares low for locals, taxis operate on a route - from point a to point b, while doing so, the driver will also pick up other passengers so it becomes a shared ride. I don't recommend this type of travel for first timers to Jamaica.
