A disused quartz mine, reportedly Europe's highest at elevation of ca. 1100 m, this is a one-of-a-kind place in the vast and empty mountains known as the Izeras (Góry Izerskie, Isergebirge).
It's a mountain top that has been opened up so you literally enter inside a mountain. There's lots of water there, rocks, and rock crystals to be found.
The Flins, as the mountain has been called, is surrounded by legends and lore from the times of the early Slavs, and from that of the Wahlen, or Venetians, the medieval gold and precious stone prospectors.
It is also situated on the contact zone of granites, from the south, and gneisses and shales, from the south, with a massive quartz vein running in the middle. It constitutes an important watershed (between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea).
