A Favorite among locals for coffee and delicious vegan food, “The Bean” is also one of the city's most active music venues and has been featured in the New York Times. The shop also hosts weekly film screenings under the “Psychotronic Film Festival” group! The kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and beer and wine are also on offer.

Frequented by SCAD students and alumni, Foxy Loxy is a quirky coffeehouse that doubles as a gallery and music venue. Their back courtyard hosts acoustic mic nights and marshmallow roasts, and their kitchen serves up a variety of Tex-Mex inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They also serve beer & wine. Try the “Eye Opener!”, a milk stout topped off with a shot of espresso! They also have a sister location on Broughton Street called The Coffee Fox.

Naturally right in the heart of the Starland District and named after the old dairy which still dominates the area, Starland Cafe is known for wonderful and made from scratch eclectic dishes. Try the “Kitchen Sink” Salad and Thai tomato bisque but remember they’re only open until 3:00PM!

A tourist favorite and in the same building as the old Starland Dairy, Back in the Day serves breakfast and lunch and offers a selection of made-in-house breads! They also have especially delicious cupcakes, and their bourbon bread pudding is out of this world!

The best damn veggie burger in these United States, Green Truck has gained fame far and wide for their locally sourced, farm to table fare. They make it all from scratch including, quite famously (or infamously, depending on who you talk to) their ketchup. Now, stop asking questions and go eat there!

Sweet Potatoes is bright and positive though in an unassuming part of town. Their banana pudding is known worldwide and they are one of the few southern restaurants that is vegetarian friendly. My go-to for soul food!

As a vegetarian for almost a decade, BBQ is not something I normally eat but the best I’d ever had back in the day was in Sandfly (a small community out on the islands) and now they have a location right down the street! Located in the historic Streamliner Diner, they have lots of very authentic options and great people watching

The Grey has an eclectic fusion of Southern and international food made to a very high standard but the real reason to go though is the location! It's in a beautifully renovated Greyhound bus depot from the 1930s and the landmark space has tons of cool, preserved art deco features. The cocktails are also absolutely amazing!

A strange place, you'll see Spudnik's giant projection sign on the Broughton St. parking garage when they're open. Famous for serving potatoes and nothing but potatoes, it somehow really works! Especially with great ingredients and when you're trying to sober up at 3:30AM...

Six Pence may seem touristy with its red telephone box but it's the closest thing to an honest English pub you'll likely find in the U.S. and open late seven days a week.

The follow up to Savannah’s formerly most hipster bar Hang Fire, Wes Daniel’s new bar is easily the coolest retro seventies glam party anyone has ever seen in the southeast. A little off the way from most bars downtown, Abe's is home to quite a few people who knew about it “before it was cool.” It's laid back and artsy with a little dash of grunge and has a nice patio. Remember to bring a $5 bill to draw on and hang up at the bar!

How does one describe Pinkie Master's? Well, one doesn’t anymore! Though it’s now called “The Original” every Savannahian knows that one of our most iconic (and formerly scuzziest) bars is famous for a variety of reasons but mostly features for the local assembly of celebrities and drunks.

A true local Savannah business, Savannah Bee Company is a must visit. Though they've gotten bigger and more widely known in the past few years it's still the same little company run by Ted the bee keeper. Be sure to visit the orginal store on Broughton St. and be extra special sure to go in for the mead tasting!

The Book Lady is probably the nicest bookstore in the whole south east and a perfect place to stop for book lovers or anyone else. Specializing in used and antiquarian books it's nestled in a step down on Liberty St. and is as cozy and eclectic as you'd hope a used bookstore to be. Stop in and say hello to Joni (The Book Lady).
