The Spoon is close to campus, so there are spikes in traffic. But it's a Bloomington institution and a fun place to take friends for early breakfast, late brunch or other meals of the day, since they're open late.

If you're a fan of Indian food, Amrit is my favorite Indian spot in Bloomington -- and we've got more than a few for a small city.
P.S. Chicken Vindaloo is my personal favorite, but it's spicy!

I'm not much of a drinker, but if you're looking for a good place to hang out, get drinks & chill out away from rowdy college kids; Atlas is your destination. They're open until 3am, they also have a jukebox & skeeball in the back.

Cardinal Spirits is a local distillery also along the B-Line, south of downtown. They make all of their own spirits on-site and have a great patio area for when the weather is nice. One of the best places in town to have a drink with company.

I love bands and live shows, The Bluebird is one of the spots in town that brings great bands to town. See what's playing when you're in town, there might be a surprise or two awaiting. We get way better acts than our city size would suggest, but it's a lot more intimate than bigger cities.

The Bishop is a popular bar, but it's also off the college kid path, which makes it great for anyone who isn't under 25. They also have shows there pretty regularly. It gets packed though, but The Bishop puts you right downtown, so it has advantages.

Parks & Nature
This park is a stone's throw away from my place. They've got walking paths, ballfields & a walking trail that will take you through the Jackson Creek Trail, which also has a small park featuring tennis courts & basketball hoops.

It's not really a hiking trail, more like a walking one. But it's still only a mile from the residence. I like this place for getting out during the day when I want a break. It's connected to Olcott Park if you take the trail in its entirety. It also has a basketball court & tennis court (with a wall) connected, along with a playground.

Essentials
Lucky's is the closest "natural market" to the residence. Here you can find any amenities that you're looking for that would be at a grocery store, it's pricier than a normal supermarket so don't get everything here unless you want specific things. They also have a liquor store that's really extensive.

Arts & Culture
It's not close, but if you're traveling to Indianapolis at all, I have to recommend the IMA, because I'm a member. One of the top-10 endowed museums in the U.S., they have a lot to offer & if you haven't been, it's worth the daytrip.

The Mall has H&M, Old Navy and a bunch of other stores I don't shop at. But it's handy and less than 5 minutes from here.
