Located a short walk up the street in the famous Italian Market, this is one of the best places for brunch (and great for dinner, too!) A hip little spot with great food and great prices, seasonal outdoor seating, and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options (and their delicious desserts are made by Sabrina's grandmom!) Definitely check it out if you're in the Italian Market! Tip: they get busy on weekends for brunch so be prepared for some waiting time. http://sabrinascafe.com/

If you have a yen for amazing French food, this authentic Breton creperie offers some of the best in town, with a warm and romantic atmosphere. Serving brunch (weekends only), lunch, and dinner, seasonal outdoor seating, and a full bar with happy hour from 5-7. Great place for a date. PS - their crepes, and their Seared Tuna, Shrimp & Scallop Salad are TO DIE FOR!! http://creperie-beaumonde.com/bm-about/ (Tip: L'Etage nightclub and cabaret is just upstairs, with djs, dancing and events. It is also the proud home of Philly's own famous Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret, so if you're in town check the schedule to see if you can catch one of their shows. I promise you you'll want to write home about it!)

This is a terrific and hip local favorite for great Mexican food, and it's just a few blocks down Passyunk Ave. It offers lunch M-F, brunch Sat & Sun, and dinner every night (kitchen's open til 1am), with too many tequilas to name, and great margaritas and mojitos. Fun, hip, small local place offering a full bar showcasing a unique mix of strictly domestic craft beers, wines and spirits, with an emphasis on Bourbon and Rye Whiskeys and American small-batch gins, vodkas and rums American distilleries. The menu focuses on locally-sourced products and showcases ingredients and techniques common to the United States. Made up of mostly small plates but with a few large plates for sharing as well as a rotation of dessert offerings. Fun, outdoor bar stools that attach to the wall allow you to sit outside while you drink or dine. http://statesidephilly.com/

Black N Brew is an LGBT-run, cute and hip little breakfast/coffee shop just one block from the studio, at the end of Cross street on East Passyunk. It gets busy on weekends and early mornings, but it's a decent place to get some good breakfast/brunch food, some coffee, or a good bagel if you're looking to stay local. Sometimes the service can be quite slow (depending upon the time you're there) but it's also the closest breakfast spot to the studio and they offer Veg/Vegan options on the menu. Very friendly staff.

South Fellini is just around the corner, a few store fronts down from the P.O.P.E. It's a neat little hipster shop run by friends of mine who are local film, comic book and printing artists, and offers hip and unique Philly-centric t-shirts, pins, and more. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're looking for something cool to take home from your visit to Philly for yourself or a friend. http://www.southfellini.com/

Parks & Nature

This is one of the newest gems in the city! They've revamped the area along the Schuylkill River into a recreational riverside green space, which stretches from 25th & Spruce to past the Philadelphia Art Museum. It boasts a vast stretch of trails for walking, running, biking and rollerblading, with picnic tables and benches right by the water. The park begins with 2 super-fun dog parks (I love to go and just watch the dogs play from the bridge!), and along the trail you'll pass by Philly's historic Boathouse Row, tons of outdoor sculptures and statues, and a skate park. If you want to have some lovely outdoor fun, this is a fantastic place to go and one of the best in the city!

This is an awesome place! Located on the waterfront, there's a large open park with multiple hammocks, and hanging lights year-round. Go to stroll and people-watch, have a drink on a floating dock, play some arcade games or just chill out. There are multiple little stands for food, and it's both date and family friendly! http://www.delawareriverwaterfront.com/places/spruce-street-harbor-park

Franklin Square is one of the five original open-space parks planned by William Penn when he laid out the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1682. Centered around its beautiful fountain, it also features the Parx Liberty Carousel, the one-of-a-kind Philly Mini Golf course, and the renowned SquareBurger, as well as periodic, seasonal park-wide exhibits. It's for both locals and tourists alike, and a fun place to experience! http://www.historicphiladelphia.org/franklin-square/what-to-see/
