Our closest UNESCO site (only listed in the Spring 2016!). This amazing site hosts rare geological fossils of some of the very first earth ecosystems. It is quite a drive to get there but really worth the (day) trip. Best calling them first as the site is only accessible by (free) guided tour that normally starts in early PM.

They have a daily tour at 1 p.m. that is well worth spending the afternoon taking. Phone ahead to ensure it is happening.

Contains fossils of early underwater animals preserved in cleaved mudstones. Access by guided hike only. Visit the website for details.
