If you’re visiting from outside of Texas, trying the barbecue is probably on your itinerary. La Barbecue is a great place to start. The brisket literally melts in your mouth. Be careful what times you choose to go and give yourself some extra time because this place sometimes has a line wrapped around the building!
There is no shortage of BBQ joints in Texas and Austin is no exception. This family owned and operated place is special in the category with an elevated take on the classics. Be prepared for the line but just one bite and you'll forget all about the long wait times! (or just pre-order and wait in a much shorter line)
Famous Austin BBQ-expect a line, recommend going about 15 minutes before they open & on weekdays the line is not as bad usually.
We are cutting it close but thank goodness this place was only 0.9 miles from our Airbnb so we could add it to the "Walkable" guidebook. You can't possibly visit from out of state and not partake in some good ole fashioned Texas BBQ. Unless you're a vegetarian, even then I highly recommend their homemade pickles. :)
