Since 2013, the event takes place for 20 days at NGF Stadium, Houston, and was previously held at Astrodome. In 1913, the first president and founder of Houston Fat Stock Show inaugurated the first livestock event at Sam Houston Hall in Downtown, which took place annually for four years and later changed the venues. The Houston Rodeo is known for having one of the best lineups of diversified concert performers every year. The Houston Rodeo features several different entertainment activities, including Best Bites Competition, trail rides, Rodeo Parade and Rodeo Run, World’s Championship Bar-B-Que, concerts, International Wine Competition Carnival, shopping sales, pig racing, livestock auction, and livestock shows. Houston Rodeo has drawn some of the world’s most famous and re-known artists like Cardi B, Selena Gomez, Fifth Harmony, Beyonce, Ariana Grande, KISS, Kelly Clarkson, Dixie Chicks, Elvis Presley, Brooks and Dum, George Strait, Jannet Jackson, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Kenny Cherney, ZZ Top, John Legend, Taylor Swift, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many others. Houston Rodeo has the highest attendance record of 2,611,176 people in 2017 and is considered the wealthiest regular-season professional rodeo event. Houston Rodeo won the award for PRCA “Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year” in 2019.
