A point of historical interest is the remains of the gatehouse- which looks like a castle. This was erected by Feargus B . Squire (1850-1932). Squire was vice-president of Standard Oil Company.

The shell of a beautiful stone building, reputed to be haunted - and also a great place for a picnic.

The remains of this castle are a beautiful view into the heart of a man building for his wife to come from Great Britain over a hundred years ago, but she never came. He didn't quite finish the castle, and it is now in ruins.
