An absolute gem of a pub in out-of-the-way Camberwell. They have irresistible bar snacks, and there's a menu of small and large dishes, including homemade pasta, charcuterie, pies, and dishes featuring vegetables grown in chef Mike Davies’s dad's allotment. Barbecue rabbit with bearnaise sauce and Mike’s Dad’s chard is a real winner. They serve superlative Sunday lunches, but it can be bonkers, so arrive early. Sunday lunch service starts at noon.

This institution’s menu of modern gastropub / fine dining earned it a place on the Michelin pub guide; it also earned a place in The Guardian’s 50 best Sunday lunches 2017. The food has long been headed up by Michael Davies, who originally did the food at Frank’s, the place that first put south east London on the map as a go to drinking/dinning destination. Frank’s and now Davies now partner to run the pub, and their dedication to quality ingredients, making things from scratch, and eclectic, modern British worldview combine for one of the most appetising menus out there: house-cured coppa; bream, peas and house lardo; squid, coco beans, tahini, and datterini tomatoes.
