The Dartmouth RNLI visitors centre (south embankment near Rockfish) might not look like a place for children from the outside, but inside there is a full-sized inflatable lifeboat to play on and o dressing up wardrobe with RNLI kit to try on. There is also some inspiring footage of real-life rescues and a photo screen allowing visitor to put themselves into an emergency scene.

As well as great info for visitors it also houses the Thomas Newcomen Steam Engine full size working model. Designed in 1712 it was the first practical steam engine in the world designed to pump water from coal mines.
