"This Palace and its historical gardens were build in the year of 1747 and it's considered one of the most extraordinary examples of harmonious connection between landscape and palatial architecture in Portugal." Don't miss a visit to this breathless palace. 5 minuts by car, 20 min walking.

Queluz is a city east of Sintra, but in the same municipality. The thing to see is the Palace of Queluz, which took shape in the middle of the 18th century and has exuberant Rococo architecture. It was the summer retreat of Dom Pedro of Braganza, who would become King Consort to his own niece, Queen Maria I. The interiors are sublime, festooned with gilded stuccowork and resplendent frescos on the ceiling in the Music Room and the Queen’s Boudoir where there’s a dainty trellis pattern. Outside you can savor the Baroque grandeur of French architect Jean-Baptiste Robillon’s facades, and the 100-meter canal, which is walled by blue and white tile panels.

It's a very attractive palace, known as 'the mini Versailles' but the main attraction is Escola Portuguesa D’Arte Equestre, a very special school in the art of horse riding. Every Wednesday morning from May through to October you can enjoy an equestrian show of amazing quality. This tradition was started in the XVIII century and has been kept alive up until today. After the show you are invited into the paddock to pet the horses and take photographs. The beautiful gardens, with its fountains, statues and tiled canals are the perfect setting for the palace and the event.
