You can take the Ferry from the Calle 1 x Ave 5th across to Cozumel for a day excursion. The water is calm and good for snorkeling on that side of the island.

Cozumel is believed to have been first settled by the Mayans. Mayans named the island Cozumel, or Cuzamil, which translates to the land of the swallow. There are a fair number of swallows in Cozumel. You can come here to snorkel or scuba dive. The waters here are shallow and crystal clear, not to mention warm. Cozumel sits on a 600 mile coral reef system — the second largest in the world. You can book your excursion here through Seek & Go Tours.
