A small natural gorge .The road that crosses it ends in the traditional village of Therissos, with a museum and taverns with good traditional food.

I recommend this mountainous trip to Therisso because you will see the beautiful gorge and try excellent Cretan food at the top of the village.

The Gorge of Therisso is a beautiful to go sight seeing. The main gorge is six kilometers long. The vertical cliffs are impressive and the lush vegetation has nothing to envy of the other Chania Gorges. The place deserves a visit, even with a vehicle, cobined with a visit in the historical beautiful village of Therisso, that is built at the foot of the White Mountains at an altitude of 580 meters, just 15 kilometers from the city of Chania. A visit here is something that will remain unforgettable to every visitor.

Therissos Gorge is the most accessible gorge near the city of Chania. It is located 6km south of Chania, between the villages of Perivolia and Therissos. It is a small gorge, around 9km in length and 15-250m wide, however it owns most of the diverse and rich characteristics of larger gorges. At its entry where it is wide, it is surrounded by orange groves and vines, whereas at its most narrow points, it is enclosed by steep cliffs, plane trees and oleanders. It has a rich endemic flora and fauna hosting the habitat of some endangered species. There is a road along the length of the gorge that leads up to the historical and heroic village of Therissos and connects the city with the White Mountains.
