Thomas Lakes is a very popular local and tourist favorite. The Thomas Lakes hike is the base hike for summiting Mount Sopris but many people just do the hike up to the lakes and back. The hike has a combination of forests, meadows and lakes. The hike is about an intermediate level.

Whether your going all the way to the top of Sopris (planned to summit by 1pm to avoid afternoon thunderstorms) or just hiking to the lakes this is a pleasant hike.

Wonderful day hike to the base of Mt. Sopris. Hay park trail off tot eh south east is also a great route.

An alternative to Hanging Lake. Close by, not as crowded.

Thomas Lakes Trail is amazing - and you need a great car to get the the trailhead but the three lakes to see at the base of Sopris Mountain are breathtaking as are the views on your way up. About eight miles round trip - not for beginners.
