If you have time, I recommend checking out Southern Humboldt by driving on the Avenue of the Giants off of Highway 101 south of Arcata. If you get hungry for lunch or dinner, stop in Miranda at the Avenue Cafe or the Redwood Palace.
World-famous scenic drive. A 31-mile portion of old Highway 101, which parallels Freeway 101. Surrounded by the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, which has the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world. This is one of the easier scenic drives in Humboldt.
