The north side of the pier is more accessible to the water with less rocks.

Take a 15 min drive to Oceanside Harbor where you can take a sight seeing cruise, rent an electric boat and take yourself on a cruise, rent paddle boards. Observe wildlife, look at the moored boats, eat Italian dinner at the Light House, or stop by for a great cup of coffee at kitzchy coffee hut at the end of harbor near the ocean. Eat at Joe's Crab Shack where the elevated restaurant offers expansive views of the marina. Street vendors offer local wares such as candles, tshirts, blankets, beach toys, etc.

Are you craving some beach time while in Southern Cali? Jump on the 76 west and it's a straight shot to the beach in Oceanside just 25 minutes away. Harbor Beach is closest, but a few more minutes south you can check out the Oceanside Pier.
