Biokovo Nature Park is the most dominating presence on the southern Dalmatian coast. Proclaimed a nature park in 1981, this mountain rampart towers a good 1500 meters over the Makarska Riviera and offers exceptional views over the sea and nearby islands. It is one of Croatia's most popular destinations for hikers with myriad paths that wind up the hills past olive groves, vineyards and pine forests. The Biokovo massif that stretches 36 kilometers along the coast and nine kilometers inland drops down in a series of craggy limestone rocks and sheer cliffs interspersed with caves, pits and sinkholes. The most popular hiking and mountaineering destination is Vosac (1421 meters) which lies only 2.5 kilometers from Makarska.

Mount Biokovo is the highest mountain in Dalmatia and the second highest in Croatia – it rises to 1,762 metres at its highest point. The part of the Mountain that is best for visiting is the area designated as Biokovo Nature Park. The Mountain is very suitable for walking and hiking, with Vosac peak (1,422m) only 1.8 miles from Makarska city centre (on a well signposted route). From Vosac, it takes two hours along another well marked path to Sveti Jure (St. George), the highest peak in the area at 1762 m. You can also enter the Nature Park by car or bike. There is a Botanical Garden in the village of Kotisina which has a variety of vegetation. The mountain is also well known for its caves.

Its a mountain with several peaks, great for hiking and enjoying the sea views. It has Panorama restaurant on the top too. To je planina s nekoliko vrhova, izvrsna za planinarenje i uživanje u pogledu na more. Na vrhu je restoran Panorama.
