The National Historic Landmark offers a unique opportunity to explore the personal world of Jefferson, and to learn about the people—both free and enslaved—“who labored for his happiness."

Poplar Forest is Thomas Jefferson's summer home. It is a unique, octagonal house, with beautiful wood work. It has a huge wine cellar and often there are special services and activities on the property of many acres.

“The Peaks of Otter Lodge is up in The Blue Ridge Mountains right on The Blue Ridge Parkway and has a wonderful "Home/Southern Cooking" restaurant with great views and food. There's also a large pond there which visitors can wander around/about and it's a nice stop along the way if you're enjoying The Blue Ridge Mountains.”
