Elk Island National Park is Canada's largest completely enclosed national park, and contains the second largest population of bison. A 35 mile ute drive from Edmonton.

Elk Island National Park is a national park in Alberta, Canada, that played an important part in the conservation of the Plains bison. The park is administered by the Parks Canada Agency. This "island of conservation" is 35 km east of Edmonton, along the Yellowhead Highway, which goes through the park.
