I don’t think I can describe just how wonderful a trip this was but I will try. David was fantastic. To start the place was absolutely spotless and had a super clean kitchen and bathroom. The linens were very clean and there were plenty of towels for the hot tub and shower. The kitchen had a great oven that was a convection oven. There was also a cast-iron skillet, which is so essential. I hate cooking on nonstick because you never know what kind of toxic stuff you’re putting into your food so having a grill, cast-iron skillet, and breakfast skillet was amazing. While we were there, there was a flash flood. While there was no flood to be seen in the house because it’s on a hill, the roadway was temporarily impossible to traverse. David brought us fresh chicken from his farm and it was fantastic. He made sure that we were safe when we did leave once the water had subsided. The hot tub was very clean. It looked brand new. The Internet was very fast and we had no problem watching TV.

Ive stayed at this wonderful home many times so I knew it was a treasure. However, the newest owner Gretchen really made this place even better. Clean, cozy, it has everything you need for a perfect moutain getaway. All the little touches and welcoming treats were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Can't wait to return!

What a wonderful cozy cabin. Comfy beds, nicely decorated & great amenities. We loved the wood burning stove, that really warmed up the cabin on a chilly rainy day. They had dry wood readily available for use & clear instructions on how to use the stove. The hosts went above & beyond to accommodate us as well as being kind & quick to respond. We will definitely be back for the wonderful view of the James & quality time with our family.

Had a great time staying at this cabin! Beautiful surroundings and plenty of space for our family! Had a few hiccups with the heating and front door lock during our stay but our host Shawana was great about being responsive and was very kind throughout. Also had clear instructions on operating everything and a clear check-in process. Overall, loved the peaceful family vacation in the woods!

Absolutely lovely cabin! The best place to be to disconnect and unwind. The small details were the best part. The bed in the loft was so comfy and the entire cabin was so welcoming. We didn’t want to leave!

My kids and I loved going between kayaking, enjoying the hot tub, and relaxing. Lovely spot!

We had a wonderful stay! The views are fantastic and the cabin is peaceful and cozy. There are some nice hiking trails a short drive from the cabin. We would definitely come again!

We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend stay at the cabin. The surroundings are beautiful and had we been in the area to enjoy ‘lake life’ this cabin would be a perfect fit. We were in the area to visit some museums in Roanoke and usually stay in hotels, but our dogs tend to bark and that bothers the other guests. As the cabin is dog friendly, we were able to crate them for a little while, while we enjoyed our day. Our host provided plenty of towels for our use, though we were surprised that there were no washcloths provided. When I mentioned this to our host, she said they’d take that recommendation for future guests. I’d also suggest that a box of tissues would be a nice addition (fortunately we had one in the car). But this is nitpicking, really. Bottom line - it’s a beautiful cabin and the surroundings are the same. Any lake loving boater would be right at home. And our host was friendly and communicative.

This place was just great. Pulling up the mountain to the cabin we just weren't ready for just how great the view was. Visiting at the end of April, the cabin is a great space to just feel secure while sleeping. We did everything out doors, and regret nothing. I'd love to come back in the Fall/early winter months to experience the inside a bit more, not that we couldn't have, but the outdoor temperatures were perfect, and there were very few bugs to bother us. Everything inside that we needed was situated well and with intention. We very much enjoyed our stay, definitely one of our top experiences for that off grid, self reliance feel.

We had a wonderful stay at this place. The host was great and the place was perfectly described. It was in a neighborhood but was a bit secluded which was nice. It was about 8 minutes to Liberty U so it was easy getting back and forth when we needed to be on campus. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay near the campus.

Without a doubt one of the best AirBnb’s we’ve stayed at. We spent Thanksgiving at Kyle’s place and it was incredible. The kitchen had everything I needed. Thus home has been beautifully remodeled and has so many special touches. Communication was also answered within minutes. We look Forward to coming back again for weeks stay. Thank you!

We had an amazing time staying at Beatrice’s beautiful property! The cabin itself was exactly as described/shown in the photos with everything labeled clearly inside. Beatrice supplied everything you could possibly need for a relaxing getaway and even gave a basket of treats and wine for us! We felt right at home and loved the serenity of the property with the running stream nearby and the wonderful mountain view. This cabin was an perfect spot for our group (two families traveling with four adults and five kiddos ages 5-8). The game room exceeded our expectations and the fact that it was downstairs meant that the adults got a little bit of peace and quiet here and there. The views are lovely the location was great (we loved our visit to Natural Bridge), and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of space for everyone and the fact that there were three bathrooms made it easy to get all the kiddos ready for bed. Our only "complaint" is that the kids had too much fun to go to bed easily! :)

I had a great last minute getaway here and I agree with the other reviews, it’s so much better than the pictures give it credit for and was so comfortable with everything I needed. It is located adjacent to another property, it’s above the garage although only one or two steps if mobility is a concern for you, it’s very accessible. No one was using the other property so it was great to be alone. I had coffee on the front porch every morning as the deer came to say hi and listened to the beautiful soft (read very quiet) church bells in the distance on Sunday morning and watched as the sun rose over the trees. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Easy access to hikes with my dog we both enjoyed the yard. She would lie in the grass by the fire pit and we watched the sun set after a long day of hiking. I recommend bringing your food as I didn’t see too many restaurants, also I had cell service with both Verizon and T-Mobile. All in all a great place if you’re looking to escape!!

This cozy cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It is rustic, quiet, clean in a peaceful country setting. It was just as pictured with our host Crystal having an easy check in/out process while maintaining our privacy. We really enjoyed this stay.

This was our second time staying here. The cabin is beautiful and well maintained! They provided lots of firewood which was wonderful because we had a campfire every day! The kids loved the playground and the creek and want to come back over the summer for swimming in the lake! The linens and beds were great - we brought our own towels which was fine and they did have hand towels in the kitchen and bathrooms. There is nothing around which we loved - very peaceful and relaxing. The stairs going upstairs are steep and curvy so our little one (3) was nervous but the big boys (7 and 9) were fine with it. We plan on coming back!

This is our second summer visiting SML and staying at Chad's place. We love it! The house is in a beautiful spot on the lake, the natural beach is so great for our three small kids - we swam morning, noon, and night and rented a boat that was easy to keep at the dock. The house has all the things you need - and the beds are so comfortable. Chad is always so responsive and friendly for any questions and needs we had. The house is only a few minutes to the State Park which is a real gem with so much to offer and less than 10 minutes from the White House market which has any basic items you need! We highly recommend a stay here.

The home is excellent and better than the photos. The host has thought of everything to make the stay enjoyable. Beds are comfortable, showers are hot and the decor is beautiful. We were a group of 3 Couples and we had plenty of space to spread out.

Rodger and Tori were very friendly and responsive hosts. They provided plenty of information on the surrounding area as well as recommendations for dining. The cabin was just like the pictures, if not better! The area was beautiful, private, and relaxing. The last 15 minutes of the drive is quite the experience for those not used to mountain roads. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend a stay for anyone looking for peaceful seclusion in a gorgeous mountain setting.

Cozy getaway spot! Quiet and serene. Clean and just as described--great amenities and easy communication. We would definitely come for another visit!
