Cape Smokey is situated in the town of Ingonish about 2 hrs away from our cottage. If it is open, I recommend taking the ferry through Englishtown when driving to Ingonish. Doing a day trip to Ingonish is a great way to experience part of the Cabot Trail without having to do the full loop.

PERFECT FOR A DAY TRIP! Take a short day trip to Point Michaud; a beautiful long sandy beach by the little town of St-Peters-about 1.5hr away. There is a surf school right on the beach typically operating Wednesday to Sunday, and you can book a one hour private lesson with them.
Tips: There is a small food truck on site but it is not always open. Bring some snacks and refreshments.
