We loved our stay at Shelter Cove! The house is big and beautiful and properly stocked as it’s the host’s normal residence. The kitchen has everything we needed and more! We felt very comfortable in the space and everything felt spacious. Marc was very communicative and helpful. It was an easy 5 min drive down to stunning black sand beaches. There’s also a children’s park just a quick walk down the road. There were a few things broken by the previous guests, but Marc was quick to acknowledge them ahead of our trip and fix things in a timely manner while we were out exploring. It was a great trip to Shelter Cove and this house offered a fantastic home base for our group.

Kevin is a great host and his place is beautiful, just like on the photos. The house is super clean and spacious, we loved the riverside and the peaceful, quiet surroundings.

We are both California natives and have traveled all over the world. But...we have never been to The Lost Coast! How is that possible? This is one of the most beautiful areas we have ever visited and we are so happy we rented Robert's home. It was wonderful to stay in a home, since it's a remote area. Being in such a lovely, cozy, home was perfect! Upon entering, the fire was awaiting us all ablaze and cool music playing. Beautiful kitchen, welcoming open floor plan with cozy sofas, and a fireplace/stove that kept us so warm and cozy. There are windows everywhere so lots of light. Lots of nice touches in this space. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept like babies. You can see the moon and stars out the windows and above the bed. We especially loved playing records on the record player and he has a fine collection! The house has everything you need and a great vibe! Highly recommend this home in Petrolia! Thanks, Robert!

Very peaceful area nice and quiet and walking distance to the river. Lisa was available and very helpful with local information. We will be returning !!

Stayed at a cabin for the long weekend around Valentine's day. Wonderful property and location, right on the river. Charles is a wonderful host and helped out with local recommendations. Great place for a weekend getaway, pretty close to Richardson's Grove State Park, Humboldt as well. Avenue of the Giants is like a 20 minute drive away and it is right on the US 101.

absolutely amazing place to stay. I have so much to say. the decor is cozy and welcoming. they put so much thought into all the details. the whole place smelled and felt like a spa while I was there! Laura is just one of those people that is meant to host. she is so friendly, so responsive and her food is good too! the whole place is beautiful inside and out. I had a great trip and would love to come back in the future. I have already shared the place to a few of my friends and clients and they look forward to booking.

I think our host was actually a black cat. The very friendly and affectionate cat greeted us on arrival (Charles had sent excellent instructions and was flexible on when we arrived). The cat and my daughter immediately bonded thanks to much petting. The cat showed us to our cabin (which was better than the pictures with two redwood trees growing through the porch and more redwood trees as part of the view down to the Eel River). I spent many hours hanging out on that porch reading and working (thank you very fast Starlink) and petting the cat. She was very well trained not to enter the cabin, which was comfortable and had plenty of space. We also enjoyed being able to use the lodge kitchen and games and bigger tables and porches. We spent a week immersed in the redwoods and this cabin was the perfect place to stay. We did meet Charles, who told us the cat is named Beyoncé.
