If you don't want to sleep the night, then it's the perfect place for clubbing!!
One of the coolest clubs in Milan is in a deconsecrated 19th-century church based on New York's Avalon club, Il Gattopardo is similarly a temple to the boogie. But a brief sermon in Italian literature will illustrate where the likeness stops: Il Gattopardo was named after di Lampedusa's novel on Sicilian aristocracy - much more the reference here. The church structure is decorated like a sumptuous Sicilian palazzo, with a neo-classical crystal chandelier the size of a small house, and ornate cream chaises longues. In fact the whole club is pure cream, like its sister restaurant and neighbour Chatulle (see Eat). Early aperitivo gives way to commercial pop and revival into the night, but at all times the guest list is taken as seriously as a holy writ: the management is keen to maintain the aristocratic theme. The only way in is with an advance booking - with this, Gattopardo claims to be the only club that is entirely privé.
